WPA Addiction Therapy

I'm Richard Lee, a BACP Accredited addiction therapist registered with WPA Health Insurance. If you hold a WPA policy, your addiction therapy sessions may be covered — giving you access to specialist, depth-focused treatment without the full financial burden.

WPA is known for its flexible, client-focused approach to mental health cover. I use Post-Induction Therapy (PIT) — addressing not just the addictive behaviour but the developmental trauma, shame, and relational patterns that often drive it.

In-person sessions in Fitzrovia (W1W) and Bromley (BR1), plus online therapy across the UK.

Using WPA Cover

How to Access Addiction Therapy Through WPA

1

Check Your Policy

Contact WPA or check your policy documents to confirm outpatient mental health cover. WPA policies are often more flexible than other insurers regarding therapy access.

2

Obtain Pre-Authorisation

WPA generally requires pre-authorisation. Call their team, explain what you're seeking help with, and they'll confirm your cover and any requirements.

3

Provide My Details

WPA will need my name, BACP registration, and practice details. I'll supply everything when we speak.

4

Begin Therapy

Once authorised, we start. I invoice WPA directly — no claims forms for you to manage.

WPA: What Makes It Different

Flexible Cover

WPA is known for a more personalised approach than some larger insurers. Their mental health cover often has fewer restrictions on the type of therapy and may not always require a GP referral — check your specific policy.

Session Allowances

WPA policies vary, but many cover 10–20 therapy sessions per year for outpatient mental health, subject to clinical review.

Confidentiality

Your session content is confidential. WPA receives only treatment summaries and session dates — the same minimal information shared with any insurer.

Other Insurers

Also registered with Aviva, AXA Health, Allianz, and Healix. Self-pay always available.
