Anxiety and depression often go hand in hand — you might feel on edge and overwhelmed one moment, then flat and disconnected the next. Living with either (or both) can make even everyday tasks feel exhausting.

How Anxiety & Depression Show Up

Anxiety and depression don't always look the way people expect. Here are some of the ways they can manifest:

Signs of Anxiety

Racing thoughts or constant worry you can't switch off
Physical symptoms: tight chest, racing heart, shallow breathing, tension
Avoiding situations, people, or places that trigger fear
Feeling constantly on edge, restless, or unable to relax
Overthinking past conversations or catastrophising about the future
Panic attacks that feel overwhelming and uncontrollable

Signs of Depression

Persistent low mood, emptiness, or numbness
Loss of interest in things you used to enjoy
Exhaustion and lack of energy — even small tasks feel monumental
Feelings of worthlessness, guilt, or self-criticism
Changes in sleep or appetite — sleeping too much or too little
Withdrawing from people, isolating yourself

These aren't weaknesses or character flaws — they're signals that something needs attention. And they can get better with the right support.

How Therapy Can Help

My approach addresses both the symptoms you're experiencing and the underlying patterns driving them — working towards meaningful, sustainable change rather than short-term relief alone.

Understanding Your Patterns

We'll explore what's driving your anxiety or depression — whether it's thought patterns, unresolved experiences, relational dynamics, or a combination of factors.

CBT & Practical Tools

Develop practical strategies to manage anxious thoughts, break cycles of rumination, and gradually re-engage with life when depression makes everything feel pointless.

Deeper Understanding

Where anxiety and depression may have roots in early experiences or trauma, I use PIT and psychodynamic approaches to explore these underlying patterns — not just manage symptoms.

Anxiety, Depression & Addiction

Anxiety and depression frequently co-occur with addiction, codependency, and other compulsive behaviours. Many people use substances, relationships, or other behaviours to self-medicate — trying to quiet the worry or fill the emptiness. I have specialist experience working where these issues overlap, and can support you with the full picture.

My integrative approach draws on CBT, psychodynamic therapy, humanistic practice, and Post-Induction Therapy (PIT) — creating a tailored treatment plan that meets you where you are.

What Sessions Involve

Sessions are 50 minutes, usually weekly. The first step is a free 15-minute consultation so we can see if it feels like a good fit. In early sessions we build a shared understanding of what's going on for you and what you want to change. From there the work is collaborative — combining practical tools to help you feel more grounded day-to-day with deeper exploration of the patterns underneath. You'll never be rushed, and the pace is always set together, with you.
